How to join a South Pacific Projects Fiji expedition

Whether you’re from the UK, USA or Europe, guaranteeing your place on an expedition with South Pacific Projects is simple. Just follow this guide to start you on your way to joining us on our island paradise. At any time you can contact us and we will be happy to answer any of your questions.

Step 1: Read the web site content

Read through each of our web pages as they will answer most of your initial questions about us and our expeditions, including comprehensive feedback about our conservation project from many of our past volunteers on the blog. You will also find valuable feedback from our Fijian project partners
.
Step 2: Fill out the ‘Join us’ page

To make an initial enquiry or start the booking process for our expeditions just fill out our join form with your details and we will get back to you as soon as possible with all the details of your expedition.

Step 3: Read our Volunteer Guide and Terms and Conditions

Before you pay your deposit you should read our Volunteer Guide and terms and conditions. This is essential reading and will prepare you for your expedition giving you all the finer detail including background information on Fiji, how to get here and what you need to do before you depart. Our terms and conditions are legally binding and must be read, understood and agreed to before a volunteer takes part on an expedition. If you have any questions regarding our terms and conditions please contact us.

Step 4: Pay your non-refundable deposit to secure your place

Once you have decided to come and are committed please pay a deposit of £150 through our payment page. The methods of payment are described there, but we prefer you book through our secure PayPal account. When the deposit is paid you have officially started the process and you are one step closer in joining us in Fiji. You may also choose to pay the balance immediately.

Step 5: Go through the Volunteer Guide

Once you have booked on you will still have some organising to do. Read our Volunteer Guide, it will help you on your way from booking airline tickets to ticking off a comprehensive personal check list and help ensure you don’t forget anything!

Step 6: Print, read and fill out the following pages

Before you depart for your expedition there are several forms that you need to print, read, fill out and send back to us at South Pacific Projects. These forms are essential to help complete your booking and must be sent at least 4 weeks prior to the start of your expedition date.

You can download all of them from the Volunteer Guide page.

1. Volunteer Details Form: Gives us all the details of you that we need
2. South Pacific Projects Medical Form: Needs to be completed and signed by a qualified physician
3. PADI Dive Medical: Needs to be completed and signed by you
4. Terms & Conditions: Is a legally binding contract that needs to be read and signed

Once you and your physician have completed these forms you will need to send copies of them to South Pacific Projects. Before you do please make sure that you have filled them out correctly including all fields, signatures and dates. One you have sent your forms please notify South Pacific Projects. Remember to keep the original copies to bring with you to Fiji. There are two options for sending your forms:

1. Scan a clear low resolution copy and save the copy to your computer, attach it to an email and send it to info@southpacificprojects.org – This method is recommended as we prefer to reduce paper usage
2. Mail a clear photocopy to:

South Pacific Projects
Leleuvia Island
P.O. Box 2361
Government Buildings
Suva, Fiji

Step 7: Make your final payment

To guarantee your position on your chosen expedition you must pay the full expedition fee eight weeks prior to the expedition start date, unless otherwise agreed with South Pacific Projects. Use the same payment method that you use to pay the deposit. Now you are almost there!

Step 8: Do a final check, jump on a plane and get ready for the experience of a lifetime!

Check that you have got everything that you need organised, use the Volunteer Guide kit list once more to check. Ensure you have all the documents you need to hand over to our expedition staff that will meet you with a smile at the Raintree Lodge in Suva!
